St. George’s School (7) vs Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (3) U17 Prep
Back-to-back substantial wins over Wenatchee prior to Sunday for St. George’s School meant they were riding the high of 24 goals in two previous games and were on a run of four wins out of five games. Coeur d’Alene’s weekend weekend had begun with a pair of losses to Yale, but unfortunately, their fortunes wouldn’t turn come Sunday. Jayden Ni came out swigging, with a shorthanded goal and primary assist in the first period added to by two more goals from Ni in the second. Ni ended up with three goals and five points to lead St. George’s School to a 7-3 win.
Northern Alberta Xtreme (3) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (5) U15 Prep
An early goal on Sunday from NAX’s Myer Hipkins made it look as if NAX were prepared to pull away with a game that they started on the front foot, but at every NAX strike, the Buffaloes would respond, with Dane Magwood tying the game twice. In the second period alone. Sebastian Morgan’s tenth of the season sent NAX into the third period up by a goal, but yet again, Pilot Mound fought back, this time doing so in a manner that turned the game around completely. The deficit tuned into a lead thanks to goals from Mohammad Rafih and Rylan Regnier, with Brycen Faul (1G, 2A) sealing the win with the 5-3 goal late in the third for PMHA.
Bourget College (CCM) (4) vs Ontario Hockey Academy (CCM) (5/OT) East
Despite falling behind early, Bourget College’s fight from the midway stage of the first period until the halfway point of the second did all of the necessary damage, with Grayden Bath’s pair among four goals Bourget would score in that stretch. Up 4-1 through half of the game, it looked like Bourget’s trip to Cornwall was going to be a successful one, but after they’d scored the fourth, OHA swapped in Matvii Kulish to play goal, who slammed the door shut from there. He stopped all 25 shots he faced over the last forty minutes, setting the stage for Luka Blais (2G, 1A), Nikita Burenkin, and Liam McGarr (1G, 1A) to score three consecutive goals and force overtime for OHA. Luka Blais scored again for OHA come the extra frame, netting him his second of the game and second of the season to secure a comeback victory for OHA.
Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (6) vs Shawnigan Lake School (0) U15 Prep
Two teams in need of a win in the U15 Prep standings clashed in Shawnigan Lake early on Sunday, and unfortunately for the hosts, it was the visiting Wings who would make good on their chances early to establish a lead that wouldn’t cease. Owen Devonald (2G) opened the scoring less than two and a half minutes into the game, with two more before the end of the first putting CDA two in front. TJ Podollan (1G, 1A) picked up a goal and a secondary assist in the second to help the Wings fly further in front en route to the 6-0 win.
Yale Hockey Academy (3) vs Delta Hockey Academy White (2) U15
A pair of Carter Jackson goals early in the second period appeared to set Yale on due course for success over Delta White on Sunday, but with a two-goal lead established, Yale couldn’t hold off Delta White’s efforts at storming back into the game.Dane Tekavc and Nikola Vrba tied the game before the second intermission, and while they’d manage to level the score for Delta, it was Ty Mills who broke through in the third period for Yale. Lions goaltender Luke Shushack stopped all 11 shots he faced in the third and 39 of 41 in the game to secure his team the win.
OHA Edmonton (2) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (7) U15 Prep
An evenly matched first period between the OHA Edmonton and RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg’s U15 Prep squads was, unfortunately for OHAE, the solitary time in the game which RHA Winnipeg did not dominate. RINK Winnipeg outshot their opponent 21-4 in the second period, with Lyrik Selch scoring two of his team’s four in the period. They’d end up with two more in the third, scoring six unanswered in a 7-2 win.
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (1) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (5) U15
An excellent early goal from Augustine Paziuk (2G) was followed up by Tarron Lehman (2G) to double NAX’s lead less than a minute later. RINK Kelowna stayed in the game into the second period, with Nash Whalen (1G, 2A) and Lehman scoring again for NAX to give them a 4-1 lead through two periods. Paziuk scored again in the third to seal a 5-1 win.
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (2) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (4) U17
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg had successfully managed to hold off the Northern Alberta Xtremes offensive prowess through forty minutes, limiting them to one powerplay goal. Owen Anderson (1G, 1A) scored 67 seconds into the third period to give Winnipeg a 2-1 lead, but unfortunately, NAX poured on the pressure heavily enough to break RHAW’s defences. NAX outshot RHAW 20-3 in the third period and grabbed goals two from Zuan Jenkinson and one from Benjamin Vialaneix turning around the 2-1 deficit to help NAX secure a 4-2 win.
Prairie Hockey Academy (0) vs Edge School (18) U15 Prep
Ian Kim scored six goals and eight points on Sunday against Prairie Hockey Academy’s U15 Prep squad, but he wasn’t the only Edge Mountaineer to score a hat-trick. Wyatt Pollock scored three and Cohen Snukal-Lyon (1G, 6A) ended up with seven points. Eight in the third for Edge gave them a season-high eighteen goals in a gigantic victory.
Indigenous Sports Academy (1) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (5) U17 Prep
Indigenous Sports Academy went into Sunday’s clash with the South Alberta Hockey Academy riding the high of a Saturday overtime win over CIHA to snap a slump, with SAHA coming in having won five consecutive games, with SAHA not having lost in regulation since their first game of the regular season back on September 18. SAHA’s Kyan Vansandt (2G, 1A) scored two in the game to make it four goals in his last two games and 12 in his last nine, helping NAX open a 3-0 lead early in the third. Jaxon Scherr notched three assists in the win.
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (3) vs STAR Hockey Academy (2) U17
STAR Hockey Academy led 1-0 and looked in control of the game through forty minutes, but in an eight-minute span, Kelowna turned it around completely to push STAR back on their heels, enough so that they managed to score thrice in that span, with two from Truman Forbes leading the way for RHAK. Edrick Himley scored for the second consecutive game to get STAR back within one late, but that was ultimately as close as they’d get in Kelowna’s 3-2 win.
Northern Alberta Xtreme (3) vs Prairie Hockey Academy (5) U18 Prep
After four consecutive losses to start the season for Prairie Hockey Academy’s U18 Prep squad, they ended last weekend with a massive win over the Okanagan Hockey Academy, and would ride that wave of momentum into Sunday’s clash with the Northern Alberta Xtreme. Malakai Andrews opened the scoring and Nash Weyland scored in the second period for NAX, pushing Prairie against the ropes, with Bryden Wagner (2G, 2A) and Dalin Nixon’s goals helping square the game at two. Ryder Remillard and Wagner opened the third with two goals to put Prairie up 4-2, the first time a two-goal lead had been established in the contest. Prairie’s Gavin Hildebrand (29/32) stopped eight in the third to help Prairie over the finish line to victory.
STAR Hockey Academy (5) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (4) U18 Prep
Sunday was essentially two games in one; the first was completely dominated by RHAK, with two goals from Finn Howes and one from Kaius Millan sending Kelowna into the last three minutes up 3-0. Liam Yackel scored his first of two late in the second to make it 3-1, and in the third, the game changed. Cam Hoggan (1G, 1A) scored on the powerplay early in the third, with Yackel, Zakhar Kovalenko, Alexander Green helping STAR score five consecutive goals and take a two-goal lead. Alexander Sharman scored late to pull Kelowna back within one, but STAR managed to hang on, turning a 3-0 deficit into a 5-4 win.
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (3) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (4) U17 Prep
Eight and a half minutes of the second period of play managed to decide Sunday’s U17 Prep clash between RINK Kelowna and the Pacific Coast Hockey Academy, with four goals in the back half of the second period alone seeing the Sea Devils to the requisite damage. Despite being down one, PCHA picked up four straight to end the second period, with Brayden Lindsay, Nixon Szadkowski (1G, 1A), Landon Rosse, and Trent Porter (1G, 1A) all scoring to give the Sea Devils a 4-1 lead through two periods. Jett Wood and Will Tidsbury scored in the third for Kelowna to pull them back within one, but it wasn’t enough, with PCHA’s Oliver Boniface stopping 38 of 41 in the game for the win.
BWC Academy (3/SO) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (2) U17
BWC Academy led through forty minutes of play, with the first goals of the season for both Markus Demonte and Qais Rasul-Jankovics sending BWC into the last five minutes of the third period up by a pair of goals. Kael Schell pulled OHA back within one and Brysten Campbell would tie things up at two with 29 seconds to go, but unfortunately, that was all OHA could muster as far as a comeback goes. Owen Chapman (1A) and Vincenzo Carnovale (1A) scored in the shootout to steal BWC’s win despite the Tigers having let their lead slip early in the third.
Yale Hockey Academy (6) vs St. George’s School (2) U15 Prep
When Elmer Wang scored to pull St. George’s School back within one in the second period against Yale on Sunday, it looked like a route back into the game for the Saints, unfortunately, it helped serve to wake the sleeping monster that was the YHA offence. Killian Wall (1G, 1A) scored late in the second with three in the third from Max Nicholson, Koen Nicholas, and Ethan Evans helping propel the Lions to an eventual 6-2 win.
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (3) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (5) Women’s U18 Prep
Attica Sobering’s goal sent RHAW into the second period up by one over the Pilot Mound Buffaloes, but from there, Pilot Mound outplayed their favoured opponent. Two goals from Rowyn Street made sure that Pilot Mound never had it easy, but ultimately three in the second from Gracie Bray (2G) and Hilla Parviainen set up Bella Ferguson’s third-period powerplay goal to stand as the game-winner in PMHA’s huge 5-3 win.
Okanagan Hockey Academy (4/OT) vs Shawnigan Lake School (3) Women’s U18 Prep
A back-and-forth clash on Sunday saw a pair of goals from Grace Cooper lead Shawnigan Lake into the third period up 3-2, with OHA entering the third looking to send the game into overtime. Kaitlyn Harvey popped up to score her third goal in four games to tie things at three, and in overtime, OHA completed the comeback. Amy Polvere’s excellent finish sealed the deal, with her second goal of the game and first two of the season propelling OHA to victory.
STAR Hockey Academy (0) vs Delta Hockey Academy Black (6) U15
Delta Black continued their unbeaten start to the season on Sunday, with Reidar Stava (2G, 1A) needing just 65 seconds to put STAR on the back foot. Easton Medved (2G) doubled Delta’s advantage with a shorthanded goal in the second before the floodgates opened in the third. Lukah Henry and Medved scored within the first two minutes of the final frame, with Easton Biro and Stava adding two more to complete the 6-0 victory. Delta outshot STAR 40-15, with Ray Baran stopping all 15 shots he faced to secure the shutout.
Stanstead College (7) (CCM) vs Rothesay Netherwood School (1) (CCM) East
Stanstead College wasted little time establishing control of Sunday’s clash with Rothesay Netherwood School, with Mathieu Généreux (1G, 2A), Shane-Alexandre Dubé, and Matej Dobos (1G, 1A) all scoring in the opening period to give Stanstead a commanding 3-0 lead. Parker Banks and Adrien Charbonneau extended the advantage to five in the second before William McMullen’s powerplay goal finally got Rothesay on the board. Jeremi Duclos-Claude and Elliott Bibeau-Rivard added two more in the third to complete a convincing 7-1 victory, with Stanstead goaltenders Zachary Poltras and Benjamin Corke combining to stop 39 of 40 shots.
Yale Hockey Academy (11) vs Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy (0) U17 Prep
Yale Hockey Academy’s offence was firing on all cylinders on Sunday against Wenatchee, with Jacob White opening the scoring less than three minutes into the contest before Eddie Kemp (3G) struck twice to establish a 3-0 first-period lead. Three more goals in the second put the game well beyond Wenatchee’s reach, but the Lions weren’t finished. Kemp completed his hat-trick just 45 seconds into the third, with Kade Worby (2G) scoring twice in a five-goal final frame to round out an emphatic 11-0 victory. Kevin Goodale collected five assists in the win, while William Duffy secured the shutout as Yale outshot Wenatchee 68-7.
Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (2) vs OHA Edmonton (5) U17 Prep
Saturday’s meeting between these two was a one-goal game. Sunday’s wasn’t, as OHA Edmonton finished off a weekend sweep with a 5-2 win, outshooting Pilot Mound 51-27. PMHA scored first when defenceman Jett Kersey (1G) went unassisted for his first goal of the season, but the lead lasted just 28 seconds. Ryder Letendre (1G) answered out of a crowd at the side of the net, and OHAE kept coming with 24 shots in the opening period. Keenan Anderson (1G) put the home side in front late in the first, and Darius Paradayil (1G, 2A) cashed in on a handling-the-puck minor to make it 3-1 at the break. Tyne Derkach kept the visitors in it, turning aside 46 of 51. Cayden Yestal (1G) and defenceman Matiss Ziedins (1G, 1A) each scored their first goal of the season, and Kirk Girard (2A) set up two. Owen Webb (1G) got one back in the third, so both Pilot Mound goals came from the back end.
Prairie Hockey Academy (2) vs Calgary International Hockey Academy (4) U17 Prep
Calgary International put 59 shots on Kayden Gregoire, and for most of the afternoon the Prairie Hockey Academy netminder kept that number from telling the whole story. Gregoire stopped 55 of 58. That kept PHA in reach of a CIHA side coming off Saturday’s 3-2 loss to Indigenous Sports Academy, and Calgary needed an empty-netter to close it out 4-2. Defenceman Max Rex (1G) opened the scoring midway through the first, and Juma Kinchen (1G) doubled the lead before intermission. Kale Okubo (1G) made it 3-0 in the second when CIHA cashed in on a tripping minor. Blueliner Adam Loeffler (2A) set up both that goal and Rex’s. Prairie didn’t fold. Maguire Lepp (1G) got PHA on the board late in the second. Then Eric Helland (1G) scored his first goal of the season with 5:09 to go to make it a one-goal game, and Cooper Danroth (2A) had a hand in both. Seth Gagnon (1G, 1A) sealed it with an empty-netter.
Notre Dame Hounds (0) vs Edge School (16) U15
Edge School’s U15 group apparently felt Friday’s 12-0 win over Notre Dame left something on the table. The rematch at the Kyle Stuart Memorial arena ended 16-0, with Edge outshooting the Hounds 60-14 and nine different players finding the net. Defenceman Smith Gillings (1G, 1A) set the tone with a shorthanded goal inside the first four minutes, and Edge led 5-0 after one. The floodgates opened in the second, when Edge scored eight times. Three players finished with hat-tricks: Troy Reti (3G), Cohen Codner (3G) and defenceman Jiwu Youn (3G, 2A), whose three goals were his first of the season. Eli Horb (2G, 3A) led everyone with five points. Sam Quail-Sligl (3A) and Anderson MacBeath (3A) each had a three-point day. Eli Robinson needed just 14 saves for the shutout. At the other end, Samuel Aubin stood in for all 60 minutes and turned aside 44 shots.
North Shore Warriors (4) vs STAR Hockey Academy (3) U17 Prep
Saturday’s meeting between these two ended 1-0 for North Shore. For 40 minutes on Sunday, STAR Hockey Academy looked set to even the weekend. Mason Olson (1G, 1A) opened the scoring late in the first, Benton Fuller (1G) doubled the lead midway through the second, and Caleb O’Gorman had stopped all 29 North Shore shots through two periods. Then the third arrived. Liam McMorran (2G, 1A) broke the shutout under six minutes in. Less than three minutes later, defenceman Ethan Field (1G) tied it on the power play, with McMorran (2G, 1A) setting him up. McMorran (2G, 1A) struck again at 14:38 to put the Warriors in front, and Quinn Herman (1G) added a second power-play goal, leaving North Shore 2-for-2 with the extra man. Zeno Seipert (2A) and blueliner Tony Jr Han (2A) each had two helpers. Olan Ward (1G) pulled STAR within one with 22 seconds left, but Ben Boudreau (29/32) held on to finish the weekend sweep.
St. George’s School (7) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (2) U15
Landon Jebb (1G) gave RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna the lead on his own six minutes in, and for a little while it looked like Sunday might go differently than Saturday. It didn’t. St. George’s answered with three goals before intermission. The last came from defenceman Oliver Toigo (1G), his first of the season, with 28 seconds left in the period. SGS went on to score seven for the second straight day, winning 7-2 at Kal Tire Place to take both weekend games. Rhys Borisoff (2G, 2A) and Misha Rapoport (1G, 3A) drove the offence, and Eli Faulds (3A) set up three goals without scoring one. Blueliner Arek Aubuchon (2G, 1A) scored twice in the second, the second on the power play. Ansom Lam (1G) added another man-advantage goal, leaving SGS 2-for-6 on the power play. Coye Baker (1G) got one back for RHA Kelowna, but Borisoff (2G, 2A) had the last word with three seconds left. Chris Liu stopped 24 of 26 for the win.
North Shore Warriors (4) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (6) U18 Prep
Twenty-four hours after an 8-1 loss to Yale, Pacific Coast Hockey Academy picked up its first home win of the season, outlasting North Shore 6-4 at Westhills Arena. The opening period was a wild one, with seven goals and the Warriors pulling even twice. Dane Dyer (2G) scored twice in less than 90 seconds, the first on the power play, to flip an early North Shore lead. Defenceman Cortland LeMieux (1G) then sent PCHA to intermission up 4-3 with two seconds left. Karter Lundmark (1G, 2A) tied it again late in the second, and blueliner Otto Puhakka (1G, 1A) added a two-point day for the visitors. North Shore outshot PCHA 42-35, but Mikai Mast kept answering, finishing with 38 saves. Owen Bate (1G) restored the lead 57 seconds into the third. Defenceman Jakob Schmidt (1G) put it away late with an unassisted goal, his first of the season. Grady Veary (3A) set up three goals, and Ethan Parsons (2A) and Cameron Young-Thompson (2A) each had two assists.
Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (6) vs North Shore Warriors (1) U17
North Shore outshot Coeur d’Alene 36-28 and had seven power plays to work with. Little of it mattered against Ethan Sweetland, who stopped 35 of 36 as the visitors followed Saturday’s 7-2 win with a 6-1 result at the North Shore Winter Club. Defenceman Igor Fedorenko (1G) set the tone 56 seconds in with an unassisted goal, his first of the season, and CDA doubled the lead late in the first. Another blueliner, Easton Crouch (1G), scored unassisted early in the second. Matthew Mills (1G) finally beat Sweetland midway through the period, but Ozro Paine (1G) restored the three-goal cushion 76 seconds later. The third belonged to CDA as well. Eric Jr. Rietz (1G) made it 5-1, and Trevor Johnson (1G) added a shorthanded goal while North Shore was still looking for its first power-play goal.
BWC Academy (4) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (0) U15
Malcolm Mui made sure there would be no repeat of Saturday’s one-goal finish. A day after edging Okanagan 4-3, BWC’s U15 group came back to the Okanagan Hockey Training Centre and won 4-0, with Mui turning aside all 27 shots for the shutout. Defenceman Shea Elesko (1G, 2A) opened the scoring midway through the first. The game turned in the middle of the second, when OHA took two minors at the same time and BWC cashed in twice with the extra men. Tanner Dickson (1G, 2A) scored the first power-play goal. Marcus Da Silva (1G) followed just over a minute later with his first goal of the season, set up by Dickson (1G, 2A) and Elesko (1G, 2A). Okanagan had six power plays of its own and came up empty on all of them. Isaiah Abdulla (1G) closed the scoring in the third, jamming one home out of a goalmouth scramble.
OHA Edmonton (4) vs Calgary International Hockey Academy (6) U18 Prep
Twenty-four seconds. Twice, that’s all the time Calgary International needed to turn a tight game into a 6-4 win. Aidan McIntosh (2G) opened the scoring, but OHA Edmonton answered with two goals barely a minute apart, as Brett Stuparyk (1G, 2A) and Artello Forestal (1G, 2A) set each other up. McIntosh (2G) tied it late in the first. Midway through the second, Easton Barry (2G) and defenceman Henry Unruh (1G, 1A) scored 24 seconds apart, the second being Unruh’s first goal of the season. The third opened with Kai Dingwall (1G, 1A) scoring on a penalty shot nine seconds in. Barry (2G) struck again 24 seconds later off a Dingwall feed to make it 6-2. OHAE didn’t go quietly. Defenceman Chayse Fedoriuk (1G) converted on the power play, and blueliner Braydon Lynam (1G) scored his first of the season, as the visitors outshot CIHA 15-6 in the third. Colton Lutz shut the door from there and finished with 29 saves.
Yale Hockey Academy (7) vs Shawnigan Lake School (3) U18 Prep
If you stepped out early in the third period at Charlie Purdey Arena, you missed the stretch that decided this one. Shawnigan Lake had twice pulled within a goal and trailed Yale Hockey Academy by just two after 40 minutes. Then YHA scored three times in just over two minutes and went on to a 7-3 win, its third in a row. Tanner Massey (1G, 1A) and Parker McMillan (2G, 1A) built an early 2-0 lead before defenceman Jack Broekhuizen (1G) answered on the power play with his first of the season. Michael Kuzik (1G) and Gavin Selinger (1G) each scored their first goals of the season in the second, with Matthew Steele (1G) scoring unassisted for SLS in between. Nicholas Voinea (1G, 1A) started the burst on the power play, Gunho Choi (1G, 1A) followed 11 seconds later, and McMillan (2G, 1A) capped it two minutes after that. Blueliner Jacson Bradbeer (3A) set up three goals. Carson Peet (1G) added a late power-play goal for the home side.
BWC Academy (3) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (7) U15 Prep
Okanagan Hockey Academy’s U15 Prep group stayed perfect at home and stretched its winning streak to four games with a 7-3 win over BWC, even though this one was tied midway through the second. BWC drew even twice. Minseo Song (1G, 1A) scored shorthanded in the first, and Mars Zhang (1G, 2A) tied it 2-2 on the power play in the second. Okanagan then scored four straight. Kristian Bowen (1G, 1A) and Lance Bryant (1G, 1A) struck in the last four minutes of the middle frame. Eli Wiercioch (1G, 1A) and Creedence Gabriel (2G, 1A) added two more early in the third, Gabriel’s second coming on the power play. Gabriel led the way with three points, six different players scored for OHA, and defencemen Isaac Zeeman (2A) and Oliver Sochting (2A) each had two helpers. Noah Yoo (1G) scored his first goal of the season for BWC, and blueliner Lukas Pandachuck (1G) closed the scoring late. Linden Hartford made 24 saves for the win.
Okanagan Hockey Academy Black (0) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna Red (3) Women’s U18 Prep
For 36 minutes, Alyssa Seyler had RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna Red wondering what it would take. The Okanagan Black netminder stopped everything through a scoreless first period and deep into the second, and finished with 33 saves on 36 shots. The breakthrough came late in the middle frame, when Claire Johnson (1G) finally beat her off a feed from Iya Morris (1A). Avery Knoblauch (1G) followed with an unassisted goal less than three minutes later. That was more than enough for Addison Guertin, who stopped all 17 shots she faced for the shutout. RHAK Red owned the third, outshooting OHA Black 13-4, and Kayden Krystalowich (1G) added insurance midway through the period, set up by Addison Melbourn (1A) and Danica Phillips (1A). The win snapped a two-game skid for RHAK Red, who went 0-for-4 on the power play but never needed it.
